Namibia Safari 2019

Are you interested in a Safari through northern Namibia, guided by a crazy New Zealander who was born and bred in Namibia?

This will be a private, invite only, self-drive safari. This will most likely be a once-off, never to be repeated event. It takes a lot of organisation but the Safari in 2013 was such a success and so much fun that I have decided to guide another group if we can find enough interest.

At this stage I have a good idea of an amazing safari, something you will not get from a commercial tourist provider.

I know the country and the people very well and you will be well looked after.

Do you have any friends who might be interested? Please show this web page to them and ask if they are interested.

Here are some provisional details:

  • Date: May 2019 (shoulder season, better prices, less busy, good weather)-
  • About 17 days, start and end in Windhoek, the capital. You fly there via Johannesburg or Cape Town in South Africa. Best route = Quantas - Chch, Sydney, Johannesburg, Windhoek
  • Route: Windhoek, Swakopmund (coastal and desert region), Brandberg (highest mountain in Namibia), Twyfelfontein (amazing scenery), Sesfontein (desert Elephants), Epupa (Ovahimba people), Kunene (border with Angola), Etosha National Park (best animal viewing you will ever experience), back to Windhoek.
  • Transport - Toyota Hilux, 4 people per vehicle - self drive. To make it cost effective we need either 8 or 12 people in total.
  • Accommodation - very nice lodges in amazing locations, private rooms with bathrooms, twin share. Need to book soon to secure in remote locations.
  • Cost - to be finalised, depends on number of people. At a guess = $4000 to $4500 per person. Dinner (apart from in the cities), Bed, Breakfast, vehicle rental, fuel, insurances included.
  • Recommended add-ons: Victoria Falls, Cape Town, Sun City, en route to Europe (cheap flight from South Africa to Europe), Thailand, Luederitz (in southern Namibia)
